West Suffolk Foundation Trust has commissioned an external review after C difficile infections in hospitals continued into September, according to board papers.

There were three cases of C difficile in August, exceeding the trust’s monthly and quarterly targets.

In his chief executive report to the October meeting, Stephen Graves, said: “The external review of our health care acquired infection process, concentrating on C diff was undertaken at the beginning of the month.

“The report will be discussed at the relevant committees and the current action plan updated and added to during the next month. The action plan will be presented to the November Board meeting.”
