COMMERCIAL: The trust is to spend £250,000 this year on refurbishing unreliable lifts at its sites, according to board papers.

The board was advised by a member of the public at its April meeting that some of the lifts at its Worthing Hospital site were often out of working order.

In response the board noted: “The trust has an ongoing programme of lift refurbishment and has set aside £250,000 for 2011-12.

“The lifts in Western Block, Worthing, were refurbished last year and the programme includes the main block lifts this year.

“The normal maintenance regime will continue during the lead time but short periods when the lifts are out of service can be anticipated,” the papers state.”

The board was told the work was expected to take eight to 10 weeks with a lead time of 12 weeks.
