COMMERCIAL: Worcester Acute Hospitals has awarded a £1.2m contract to provide its payroll and pensions administration.

The five year contract has gone to NHS Shared Business Services, a public-private joint venture between Steria and the Department of Health.

NHS SBS said the deal would deliver “immediate cost savings” and ongoing efficiencies through a dedicated specialist delivery team, adoption of “lean” processes and IT technology. This will include moving to a web-based payroll solution to improve the accuracy of recording timesheet and expenses data.

Tasy Warn, NHS SBS director of employment services said: “We’re looking forward to supporting Worcester Acute Hospitals and becoming an extension of the in-house team.

“This builds on our philosophy for combining the efficiencies that can be derived from shared services while still maintaining a flexible, personalised service.”
