Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Hospitals trust has named Tim Welch its new deputy chief executive. He has been finance director since August 2005 and will combine that job with his new role.
He said: “The next few years will be very challenging for the health service, and I look forward to implement new initiatives such as the new surgical centre, which will improve patient care and provide fantastic new facilities and services.”
Mr Welch began his career in the NHS as a finance trainee with the then Norwich health authority, and was appointed finance director at City and Hackney in 2003,
He returned to Blackpool as finance director in 2005, and played a major role in delivering £20m in cost savings in 2006/07 and the move to foundation trust status in 2007.
Chief executive Aidan Kehoe said: “Tim’s appointment is recognition of the enormous contribution he has made to the trust’s success over recent years.
“He is a first-class executive director, and I am sure our staff and patients will be well served by having Tim in this role.”
