FINANCE: York Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been running behind its planned surplus at the end of the last financial year, recording £0.94m in March compared to the £3.2m expected.

A paper to the board of governors said its cost improvement programme (CIP) was £0.51m behind plan, and operational expenditure was £4.69m overspent.

This was due to overactivity, the CIP shortfall, payments to private providers, drugs and clinical supplies.
