James Paget University Hospitals Foundation Trust

Ex-social services director becomes new James Paget chair

The former director of social services at Norfolk County Council has been appointed chair of the James Paget University Hospitals Foundation Trust.

David Wright, who has also served as a non executive at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, will take up his new job on 1 June.

The trust - which last week was given a third formal warning by the Care Quality Commission - is currently led by an interim chief executive and an interim chairman.

Mr Wright said: “I am acutely aware of the recent criticism of the hospital and the care it provides. Patients have a right to expect a consistent high quality of care. I will dedicate myself to help tackle these challenges.

”Working with the chief executive and the board I will ensure that there is an agreed plan with targets and deadlines by which improvements will be made. There is no time to waste.”

Lead governor Hugh Sturzaker said: “David comes with an impressive track record and a passion for patient care. His knowledge and contacts within the community and social field will be enormously helpful in building up integrated care between the trust and the community.”

Interim chair Peter Franzen will remain on the board. Interim chief executive David Hill started at the trust this month.
