North East Ambulance Service Trust

North East Ambulance plans quality governance improvements

STRUCTURE: North East Ambulance Service Trust is improving its quality governance processes as part of preparing for its foundation trust application.

A self-assessment found it scored well against the measures of governance for quality, which Monitor introduced after the Mid Staffordshire Foundation Trust scandal, but could improve on some criteria. These are: Does quality drive the trust’s strategy? Does the Board have the necessary leadership, skills and knowledge to ensure delivery of the quality agenda? Is appropriate quality information being analysed and challenged? Is the board assured of the robustness of quality information?

A board paper said: “Actions are underway to ensure that the above components will eventually be rated ‘green’ as our quality processes become more embedded across the trust.”
