Innovation is stifled in the NHS for two reasons. One, there are too many myopic finance managers who are not prepared to "invest to save," and Two, Innovation challenges vested interests, based on: "out with the old, in with the new." To blame the reforms misses the point. I have witnessed and experienced fierce opposition to Innovation for several years, well before anyone had even heard of Andrew Lansley.
