Aaron Cummins, who is currently finance director at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS FT, will join Mid Staffs in June, replacing Darren Cattell.

The trust is expected to report a year end deficit for 2011-12 of £20.7m.

In 2010-11 it received a £10m bail out from the NHS West Midlands on top of a £4.5m bail out in 2009-10.

Lyn Hill-Tout, chief executive of Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are delighted that an experienced foundation trust finance director of Aaron’s calibre will be joining us and we look forward to working with him in this new phase for the trust.”

Mr Cummins will remain chair of the Foundation Trust Network’s finance directors forum.

  • This must be the worst job in the NHS after their Director of Quality. I presume their Board Advisor was too expensive on £5,000 per day.
