Ambulance service trusts are not in financial crisis through their efforts to meet the government target for emergency response times.
The ambulance service has made huge progress towards hitting the call connect target and is reaching more patients faster than ever before. Of course extra investment in staff and vehicles has been part of making this happen, and there is still more to be done in certain areas to meet this challenging goal.
But all ambulance service trusts are expected to break even this year at the same time as delivering timely and high quality clinical care. To suggest otherwise is wrong.
