It is good to see trade union Unite is not afraid to blow its own trumpet.

An email, apparently sent to End Game by accident, from Unite director of education Jim Mowatt to national officer Rachael Maskell, praises a “brilliant press release” about sheltered accommodation wardens.

According to Mr Mowatt, the release showed the union at its best - “incisive, honest, confident and correct”. The release is “an exemplar for future interventions”, no less.

But, dealing a blow to this carefully crafted PR campaign, he went on to state that an advocate appearing on the BBC “wasn’t terribly impressive”. We do not know who this unnamed advocate is, but perhaps she is not the only one in need of some media training.
