PERFORMANCE: Gloucestershire Hospitals Foundation Trust had 96 people waiting more than six weeks for endoscopy at the end of September.
They accounted for the majority of the 102 ‘six weeks waiters’ for diagnostic procedures in NHS Gloucestershire’s area, according to an NHS Gloucestershire board report.
Capacity is now being increased through locum consultant and carrying out more work in community hospitals and an independent treatment sector. This should lead to more than 1000 extra slots being made available before the end of the year.
NHS Gloucestershire is also seeking more capacity under the any qualified provider scheme.
