PERFORMANCE: An independent treatment centre at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage has had its high standards of information security recognised.
The Lister Surgicentre is run by Clinicenta, which has been recommended for ISO 27001:2005 Certification, Information Security. This is the highest standard of accreditation available to ensure that the information held on patients is accurate, accessible only to those authorised to access it and appropriately available when it is needed.
“This is a tremendous endorsement of the work the staff in Hertfordshire have achieved in our first year in post,” said Dr Mark O’Flynn, medical director, Lister Surgicentre.
“There are still many critics of private companies taking on some of the responsibilities formerly managed by the NHS. Hopefully this independent accreditation can convince a few of them that ‘new’ can be ‘better’, and we will keep improving.”
