Chief executive of Leicestershire and Rutland trust Martin Taylor has apologised to the family of a 72-year-old man kicked to death by a patient with schizophrenia.An inquiry by Leicestershire health authority criticised the care of Kevin Hewitt, who had stopped taking his medication and had not been seen by a psychiatrist for five months when he carried out the attack on Wilfred Marchant, an hour before the solar eclipse in August 1999.A father and his 12-yearold son were stabbed in the same attack.
