Northumbria Healthcare trust, which withdrew from applying for foundation status after being downgraded from a three to a two-star trust after its Commission for Health Improvement report, has lost its complaint to CHI about the report. The trust complained after it lost a star because it had been given the lowest grade on the 'using information' component of its clinical governance review. However, CHI told the trust it had confidence in its report and will therefore not be altering it.The trust lost the chance of extra money, worth between£250,000 and£1m, and extra freedoms available to foundation trusts.
