And the shortlist for acute organisation of the year includes King's College Hospital trust and Cambridge University Hospitals foundation trust.

Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale PCT and Tower Hamlets PCT are vying to be primary care organisation of the year.

Overall, there are 90 shortlisted entries across 18 categories.

The awards, which celebrate their 25th anniversary this year, boast two new categories - for information-based decision making and excellence in cancer care.

The winners will be announced at a gala dinner at London's Grosvenor House Hotel on 30 November.
