I must take exception to one item in your news article on London regional office's possible successors to the departing Nigel Crisp (pages 4-5, 19 October).

Many of us at Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham health authority are unhappy about the veiled characterisation of ex-colleagues by an anonymous source as 'deadwood'.

Lambeth Southwark and Lewisham HA's track record is excellent, and we all have reason to be proud of what has been achieved locally thanks to clinicians and managers of the highest professional calibre.

The fact that some managers and clinicians left for different and unrelated reasons does not warrant your anonymous source's innuendo.

As a serious professional magazine you should place yourself above the tabloid press's style and standards, especially when quoting anonymous sources against whose assertions no rebuttal is possible.
