Improved discharge from mental healthcare will be aided by the Care Services Improvement Partnership's new toolkit, which is available online

Concern that about 9 per cent of mental health admission beds are unavailable because of delayed discharges convinced the Care Services Improvement Partnership of the need to produce practical material to help improve discharge planning.

A PositiveOutlook – a good practice toolkit to improve discharge from inpatient mental healthcare, was published in April 2007. It covers adults of working age as well as older people and includes case examples of innovative practice that have led to more effective discharge planning and a reduction in delays.
