Chief Medical Officer Professor Liam Donaldson called on patients in key risk groups to 'go and have a flu jab' as he launched flu awareness week this week. His call was backed by London Ambulance Service trust, which was hit by a sharp rise in the number of 999 calls for flu-like symptoms last winter. Medical director Fionna Moore added that the best cure was often 'to take one of the many remedies available and spend a few days in bed'.
