To answer Laura Donnelly's question (End Game, 23 June), yes, I do think her editor had a point when he told her never to use the word 'reconfiguration'.

It is not a plain word if you're writing for the general public (as Laura was).

But if you're writing for other managers, who are familiar with the technical jargon, then it may well be.

Plain English is all about putting yourself in the reader's shoes.
