Jenny Rogers comments on patients as customers ('Consuming passions', open space, page 31, 8 June), and refers to the MRI scanner at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup, as an example of direct response to patient requirement by opening in the evening.

Sidcup MRI is owned and operated by Lodestone Patient Care Ltd, a private company which has been working exclusively with the NHS for nearly 10 years. It now runs seven such centres at NHS trusts.

Late-night opening is one response to results from our annual patient survey and is planned for other facilities, as resources are available.
