Increasing numbers of children under 11 are now obese, according to a Department of Health report published last week. From 1995-2003, the prevalence of obesity among children aged two-10 rose from 9.9 to 13.7 per cent. The biggest increase was in eight to 10 year-olds, with a rise from 11.2 to 16.5 per cent over eight years.
