Let Miss B be a warning to us all.

The ethical convictions of Miss B's doctors may well compel them to continue overriding patients who refuse treatment.

Should such individuals really be practising medicine at all?

Naming and shaming doctors who sacrifice patients' human rights to their own beliefs may be the only effective protection for the rest of us. Not all of us enjoy her family support, financial resources and sheer courage. We could secretly be condemned to decades of living death against our will, despite the law and British Medical Association guidelines.
