Guidance from the Department of Health, Mental Health and Employment in the NHS , is aimed at reducing the number of applicants and staff who are refused training or employment because of current or past mental health problems. It abolishes the two-year rule the DoH says has become a barrier to employment and clarifies the employment process to be used if there are any doubts about an applicant's mental stability.The guidance, approved by mental health charity Mind and the Disability Rights Commission, is designed to raise awareness of the need to give more consideration to employing people with current or past mental health problems.
