Nearly half of NHS staff are blood donors
A poll of visitors to the NHS Networks website indicates that 45 per cent of NHS staff donate blood regularly.
Twenty five per cent of respondents had donated in the past but had got out of the habit while another four per cent had considered donating but never got round to it.
Medical, ethical or personal reasons prevented 22 per cent of respondents from donating while the remaining four per cent could not donate because it is not practical or convenient to do so. Not one person ticked the reply which said, 'I have never really thought about donating blood.'
