West Country nurses have been warned to choose their underwear with care following the reissue of a trust's uniform policy.
Senior nursing staff at West Dorset General Hospitals trust 'were asked to remind colleagues that as the uniform is white they need to bear that in mind when choosing underwear'.
But a trust spokesperson said press claims that nurses had been specifically ordered not to wear skimpy thongs were 'a case of Chinese whispers'.' The word thong has never been used, ' she told HSJ , insisting that issues of colour were just as relevant as those of coverage.
She said the advice had been given after the reissue of the trust's uniform policy which defines which jewellery and clothes nurses can wear.
It followed comments 'from colleagues and I think possibly patients' that 'some underwear was more visible than others'.
