I read with interest 'Fair shares of the kitty?' (Cover feature, pages 24-27, 25 June). Can I set the record straight on the salary of our chief executive?

Incomes Data Service's data collection is flawed. In 1996-97, Allister Stewart received a basic salary of£82,000. A one-off bonus of£2,000 (not£4,000 as shown) and a payment for relocation costs were made. These relocation costs were correctly recorded in our annual report, but have incorrectly found their way into your data as benefits per year.

Like all the trust's executive directors, Mr Stewart has received each year the same pay rise as all other members of staff.
