Patients will soon be able to access the Cochrane library and Clinical Evidence through the expanding National Electronic Library for Health.These resources have previously been available only to clinicians.
The Cochrane library is a regularly updated collection of evidence-based medicine databases.Clinical Evidence is a directory published by the British Medical Journal that provides a concise account of what is known - and not known - about the prevention and treatment of a wide range of conditions.Marlene Winfield, NHS Information Authority head of stakeholder relations, said it was important for patients and the public to have the most up-to-date information possible about treatments, so they could make informed decisions.
