Confidence has fallen in all but three indicators in the latest barometer of primary care trust chief executives.

There were sharp falls over payment by results and IT.

Confidence in meeting choose and book deadlines slumped - down to 4.07 out of 10 from 6.18 out of 10 - although most chief executives believe their PCTs are providing comprehensive out-ofhours cover, with confidence up.

The Barometer survey is based on a panel of 100 PCT chief executives and is carried out every two months. The panel gives a score of 1 to 10 against 11 key indicators. The survey was set up with the PCT chief executives network. For details e-mail sandra. ingham@bt internet. com
