'Building anxiety' (special report, 4 March) was a good try at summarising the private finance initiative debate.
What Patrick Butler didn't discover was the unspoken truth: new hospitals cost more than old ones. The difference is funded out of bed/staff savings, out of modernisation funds or is simply not funded. PFI or not is an irrelevance. My concern with the PFI knockers is that they don't want any change at all.
