I am relieved that Steve Ainsworth is no longer a primary care manager in the NHS. Attitudes like his hold back the NHS from becoming the proactive and progressive organisation it is capable of being.

Mr Ainsworth is clearly not educated in modern human resource management practice, or its profound effect on the bottom line of both private and public sector organisations. If he had taken the time to read the NHS plan he would realise that the catalyst in making the plan work is the loyal and committed workforce which currently ensures that the NHS delivers excellent levels of patient care.

Human resource managers play a pivotal role in guaranteeing the NHS's future.

If we do not have a trained, motivated and committed workforce, the NHS will fail.

Leave HR to the experts, Mr Ainsworth, and go back to 'filling and emptying coffee machines'.
