The British Dental Association has expressed 'disappointment' at the government's public health white paper, Saving Lives: our healthier nation, for 'the apparently low priority given to dentistry'. It says that although the document has 'encouraging news' on water fluoridation, chronic conditions such as oral cancer - and also arthritis, diabetes and asthma - have been pushed into 'the second division' behind the government's life-threatening priority areas: cancer, heart disease, accidents and mental health.
