Two NHS regional chairs will be standing down at the end of their current terms on 1 November. In a written answer to MP Geraint Davies, health secretary Frank Dobson said Professor Alasdair Breckenridge, chair of North West region, will stand down to concentrate on his role as chair of the Committee on the Safety of Medicines. Philip Hammersley, Trent regional chair, has 'indicated he does not wish to be considered for re- appointment'. The other six regional chairs in England have been re-appointed for three or four year terms.
