The NHS Pensions Agency has announced plans to contract out support services in an effort to reduce administration costs. The agency says the proposals could ultimately generate savings of some £3m a year and 'make better use of new computer technology and the Internet'. The contract is likely to include information technology, pension payroll and administration, and medical support and advice - services which are already contracted out - along with clerical support work which is provided directly by the agency at the moment.
