Health and Safety Commission chair Bill Callaghan said last week that the NHS will be a key focus of its improvement targets over the next three years, despite a reduction in the rate of major injuries to health staff in the organisation's most recent statistics.'The spotlight will fall on the construction, agriculture and health service industries, where health and safety performance must improve, 'he said.The number of workplace major injuries to health service employees fell by 4 per cent to 1,300 in 2000-01 but there were two fatalities after several years with no fatalities.
