Professionals and trade unions representing a range of NHS staff this week warned the government its reforms are excluding them.

Bodies representing physiotherapists, clinical psychologists, dieticians and speech and language therapists have complained there is no formal role for professions outside of GPs and community nurses in the white paper reform of primary care.

A joint letter was issued this week by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, the Manufacturing Science and Finance union, the Society of Podiatrists and the British Dietetic Association.

It backs the 'principles behind the reforms', but warns that excluding these professions could mean patient care would suffer.
