Survivors: health secretary Frank Dobson meets Minnie Hodges, aged 107, during a visit to Moseley Hall Hospital, Birmingham. Mrs Hodges was in hospital after a fall, and was preparing to return home at the time of Mr Dobson's visit. She told reporters afterwards that she believed John Major was Britain's greatest leader, but had found Mr Dobson 'not toffee-nosed'. She told him that the NHS needs more money, a view he has been impressing on chancellor Gordon Brown.
