Your news story on rehabilitation services (page 8, 22 June) described their parlous state in England and Wales, but did not mention one of the chief causes which is highlighted in the report.
Therapists are crucial to delivering rehabilitation services. They have demonstrated that they can and do strategically lead and manage them.
However, they have been routinely excluded from commissioning and planning. Is it any wonder we fail to enable the independence of patients when we refuse to treat the health professionals who are key as equal partners?
