Diabetic Tony Collins last week entered the Guinness Book of Records after spending 77 hours 30 minutes on a trolley at the former Princess Margaret Hospital in Swindon. But he might not hold onto his crown of world trolley wait champion for too long, according to Guinness statisticians, who told HSJ : 'Mr Collins was confirmed last week as the record holder.

It was funny as he received the letter after he waited another 60 hours at the new Great Western Hospital and asked if he could add the two waits together. We didn't think he could.'The book is also looking for candidates for the largest surgical instrument left inside a patient. To date the record stands at a pair of scissors.'Unless any NHS theatre manager knows different', the spokesperson added.
