The chief executive of South Warwickshire General Hospitals trust has been suspended while an investigation into 'certain administrative procedures'- understood to mean waiting lists - takes place.

Trust chair David Evans said in a statement that the suspension of Andrew Riley was in line with trust policy and did 'not imply there has been any misconduct'.

The government claimed this week that it had exceeded its 'early pledge' to reduce waiting lists South Warwickshire community health council chief officer Janet Bonser said the CHC had picked up 'indications that some staff were under unacceptable pressure' to meet waiting list targets.

Mr Evans confirmed that official figures had shown a fall from 107 patients waiting more than a year in December to none in June.
