I noted with interest that in her news focus 'Something in the air', (4 October) on the possibility of germ or chemical warfare, Lynn Eaton described the London Emergency Services Planning Committee, which has representatives from councils and police, fire and ambulance services, and went on to say that 'surprisingly, there is no NHS representative on the committee'.

Ambulance services have been part of the NHS since 1974. We are looking forward to everyone catching up with this fact.
