Acute, primary care and mental health trusts have been warned to get ready for next year's national patient survey programme. The Commission for Health Improvement, which now has responsibility for the programme, last week sent letters to all trusts warning of the preparations needed if they are to complete the surveys next spring. Each trust will be expected to survey 850 patients and the results will feed into performance ratings. It will be the first such survey for PCTs and mental health trusts and the second for acute trusts, with the focus this year on outpatients and emergency care patients.
