After reading your interesting piece on heart failure, I started to wonder how patients feel when they are told they have got 'heart failure', or even that they are fortunate enough to have a 'heart failure nurse' (Clinical Management, pages 30-32, 19 May)?

This is like a neurology patient being diagnosed with 'brain failure' and cared for by a 'brain failure nurse'.

Worse still, what about a client with mental problems; could they be diagnosed as a 'mental failure' patient, cared for by a 'mental failure nurse'? Perhaps I am behind the times and the Nursing and Midwifery Council is setting up registers for these new branches of nursing at this very moment? We need to be told.
