Public sector policy editor, Financial Times ▲9
Nick Timmins writes the stories that many NHS managers want to read - and ministers would really rather no one did.
As public policy editor of the FT since 1996, he has a strong following based on his encyclopaedic knowledge of the NHS, ability to scoop top stories and crystal clear analysis. Of course he is widely read by the business community too, where his coverage of private sector involvement in the NHS has rocked boats.
Mr Timmins has a high profile in academic circles. He is a visiting professor in public management at King’s College London, a senior associate of the Nuffield Trust and president of the Social Policy Association. He has taken on the role as secretary to the King’s Fund commission on NHS leadership and management. He’ll be writing the final report - ensuring it has plenty of readers when it is published in spring 2011.
