Chair, NHS Alliance. NEW ENTRY

In the political parlance of the 1980s Dr Dixon leads the “wet” tendency in GP commissioning. The alliance wants GPs to be more influential but not in a destructive way. The alliance was a good fit with the first phase of Labour’s reforms, with the more hardline National Association of Primary Care (58 and 60) gaining the upper hand later. Now Dr Dixon, whose long influence on policy shows his effectiveness, is regularly joining other GP leaders in Andrew Lansley’s big commissioning tent.
