FINANCE: The clinical commissioning group has developed quality, innovation, productivity and prevention (QIPP) plans for savings totalling £4.6m in 2012-13.

The bulk of the savings - £2.6m - are expected to come from unscheduled care, followed by savings of £1.4m from scheduled care, £390,000 from prescribing, and £273,000 from joint commissioning budgets.

The CCG’s finance report stated that the savings were in excess of its £4.5m initial target, but added that it was “important that the CCG develops additional schemes to offset any in-year pressures that may materialise”.
