WORKFORCE: Nottingham City General Practice Consortium has elected its chair and vice chair.
Dr Hugh Porter was elected to the position of chair of the GP Executive Committee and Dr Alastair McLachlan as vice chair.
Dr Porter is a practicing GP at the Nottingham University Health Service, where he has worked since 1993, while Dr McLachlan is a partner at the Hucknall Road Medical Centre and has a long-term interest in primary care education.
The Nottingham City GP Consortium was named as a second wave national pathfinder in February.
Dr Porter said: “This new organisation brings together all GPs in the City to help steer the provision and development of local health services for the citizens of Nottingham. This is an exciting opportunity to build on the good work of NHS Nottingham City.”
“Having local GPs working in partnership with hospital colleagues, other healthcare professionals, NHS managers and patients will ensure that we continue to have local NHS services that really support and meet the needs of people in Nottingham City.”
