FINANCE: Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust over-performed by £10.9m – or 7.5 per cent – against its contract with Oxfordshire Primary Care Trust in the first six months of 2011-12.

PCT cluster board papers for November show that “pro-rated to month seven and including the impact of Commissioning for Quality and Innovation this equates to an overspend of £3.4m”

The trust was expected to overspend by £7.5m by the end of the year. This “reflects the agreement reached between the PCT and trust, taking into account the impact of in-year contract variations”.

Meanwhile the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre NHS Trust, which has since merged with Oxford Radcliffe, was overspent by £843,000 at month six.

When pro-rated to month seven this made an overspend of almost £1m.

“This is a further deterioration from last month”, the papers said.
