WINNER: University College Hospital, London and London Ambulance Service, London: Application of Video Assissted Pre-Hospital Triage To Stroke Assessment Pathway as Partnership Between UCLH and London Ambulance Service

Time-critical treatment for hyperacute stroke saves lives and reduces hospital length of stay and ambulance crews are encouraged to bring all suspected stroke patients to treating centres. However, there is no pre-hospital stroke diagnostic tool. This causes almost as many non-stroke cases to be transferred long distances to stroke centres without benefit to their care and reduces quality of care for true stroke cases. In 2020 UCLH collaborated with the London Ambulance Service to design, launch, measure and evolve a video assisted pre-hospital stroke triage assessment with the aim of transforming pre-hospital care decision making in the stroke pathway.
