Royal Surrey FT: St Luke’s Cancer Centre and Pharmacy Team Delivery of Safe Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment During the Covid-19 Pandemic

At the start of the pandemic, it was quickly evident that all possible measures needed to be identified and implemented to reduce the risk of covid infection in patients undergoing systemic anti-cancer treatment. To achieve this, the St Luke’s Cancer Centre multidisciplinary team and Pharmacy Department worked collaboratively to achieve ambitious change to patient pathways within a short timescale. These changes were focused on minimising face-to-face contact via telephone and virtual consultation, drive-through services and home delivery of medication. These initiatives were introduced alongside a review of patient flow within the cancer centre, where attendance was essential.
